I am Till Herion, ceramicist and designer.
Short Biography
I was born in Bern on January 29, 2001. I completed my initial training as a 3D Polydesigner at Janine Thomet Gestaltungsatelier & Co. Afterward, I attended the two-year foundation course in design (Gestalterischer Vorkurs) at the Lucerne School of Art and Design (HSLU). It was there that I first came into contact with ceramics. During this period, I discovered my enduring passion for combining light and slip-cast porcelain. In summer 2023, I began the Vocational Ceramic Design Course (Keramikdesignfachklasse) at the Bern-Biel School of Design. Around the same time, I started organizing my own exhibitions and co-developed the exhibition concept “Werkbankett” with Renato Antonietti, which evolved into a deeply personal joint project.
I see myself as a ceramic designer creating products intended to hold a lasting place in daily life. It is important to me to watch each product evolve and to execute all the required work steps myself. This allows me to intervene at any moment during the design process and change direction. My objects are meant to be used—that is how they create intimacy.
The joy of exploring materials, repurposing them, and discovering unconventional approaches continuously drives me forward. At the same time, I am inspired by the endless variety found in functional ceramics, as well as their glazes and formal expressions.
The products I create inhabit a space between object and function.
